School in the Andes
After a quiet breakfast and a slow morning, he team loaded up the bus for a long and windy ride to the high mountains. We received a devotion from one of our translators. She reminded us of God’s will in a powerful message. After the devotion, we set out on a tranquil hike. We were refreshed as we witnessed God’s creation in all its beauty. The team saw ancient Incan graveyards and experienced the power of tradition as our native tour guide encourages us to leave candy showing our respect to the dead. As we finished the hike, we entered the village where the high school was. We were very excited to see all the kids. They greeted us with many awesome performances and dances to thank us for coming. After that we served them lunch of chicken and potatoes. Next we have the privilege of giving them new shoes, hats and bookshelves, as well as new soccer bets. After hat we spent more time playing with them and teaching them how to play frisbee. We said our goodbyes and went to a nice dinner in the main plaza of Cusco. It was a very powers and inspiring day.
In the end, we learned how much of a blessing it is to bless others. It truly is better to give than receive, and the kids have opened our eyes to that. Please continue to keep us in your prayers!
