Wellspring: Day 3

Today was an amazing, full day. We began the day with devotions from 1 Peter 2:4-10 which has a lot of rich material. Mr. Ziegler gave us the charge of living today knowing that we are God’s special possessions.

When we arrived at Wellspring, we were greeted excitedly by many of STARS whom we met yesterday. After attendance was taken, we did a presentation for the STARS. Each member of the team was an integral part of the presentation. Tanner and Jake performed the song How Deep the Father’s Love for Us; Johney and Sean played the song Libertango; Tabi, Sydney, and Kathy told many jokes; Ms. Wagenaar led the Cha Cha Slide dance; Mr. Ziegler did two magic tricks: King of Hearts and The Joy Box. The staff and STARS loved our presentation, and we are planning to do another one tomorrow.

Each member of the team experienced new classes today. Here is a list of what everyone did:
Kathy: knitting and Cross Fit
Sydney: dog bones and Artbeat
Johney: Bakery and Artbeat
Tabi: dog bones and paper making
Sean: Artbeat and Bakery
Jake: Artbeat and paper making
Tanner: Bakery and Cross Fit

We enjoyed our lunch from Best Buddies Café with the STARS today. We were able to deepen our relationships with the STARS who came back today, and we met new STARS as well.

After our second class, we deep cleaned the Best Buddies Bakery while listening to 80’s pop music. We ended our time cleaning by “curling” with a can of canola oil spray on the wet, freshly mopped floor. The team tried many times to hit the target, and Mr. Ziegler finally made it!
After our cleaning, half of the team ate dinner at Wellspring with Mary Lou Fenton, the founder of Wellspring. The other half of the team had dinner at Wellspring family home. We enjoyed the yummy food and company at both locations!

We returned to the hotel, finished up our gifts to the STARs, and debriefed our day. Each team member felt more comfortable in the Wellspring environment today, and some are even planning to return and volunteer on their own!
