Spring Up a Well
Blog written by Nathan Thomas:
Today in beautiful Costa Rica, we, the team, discussed an important devotional regarding meekness. From the definition of the very word, biblical examples seen with Moses in the book of Exodus, to today's examples of what being meek could mean. After this, the team headed up for a quick breakfast and fuel time for the long day we knew lay ahead.

Like yesterdays post regarding the construction of walls for the houses, at the church, the group worked diligently through the hot temperatures constructing not only solid walls today, but also door frames and window walls.

After a long and successful today in the field, our team headed back to the hotel where we all anxiously awaited this evenings soccer kick around with th "The Iguana Boys." Upon arriving at the fields, all of us students were divided into teams based on our graduating class... the team/class of 2020 was the best... just saying. The Valor teams played against one another for an hour until the Iguana boys arrived. The kick around commenced as both team both attacked and defended one another very well. Half time came and the game was a tied, 1-1. After discussing what went well and what didn't go well we developed a plan and headed into the second half ready. We buckled down on defense and created a line of confrontation at the top of the mid-field circle. The second they would cross it, we would pounce. Once having won the ball, we worked hard to secure it and keep it moving whether that was forward, side-ways or backwards. Our offensive plan was to tire them out then once the perfect opportunity came we would seize the moment and go towards goal. With the time ticking down, the Iguana boys became tired and you Valor Christian High School Soccer players began to get more and more chances; chances that turned into goals, and then more goals. The time left in the game was running out and things started to get chippy, but we kept our heads and kept doing what we were doing. Finally when the time ran out, Valor Christian had pulled off the win with the final score reading 5-1.
