Blessed are the Merciful...
Hey it's Alex! Sorry for the late post, yesterday (Thursday, 3/22) was a busy and exhausting day for the team. We started off the day with our devotion about mercy. Our verses were Matthew 18:21-35, The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant. Our breakfast discussions about the reading were lead by our 6 seniors spread around 3 tables. After breakfast the two teams headed out to the different worksites to start putting up the different walls, windows, and doors made by the team the days before. Because of the incredibly hard work and long hours the boys put in Wednesday, both worksites had everything we needed to start putting up the walls.

Graven loved the Manchester United jersey the team gave him.

The heat was extremely brutal with temperatures in the upper nineties with humidity making it feel like temptress in the hundreds. With little shade on the worksite of Team Amigo, these conditions made constructing that much harder. God was looking out for us and gifted us with a cool breeze thought the day. On the amigo site we two teams, a landscaping team and a wall constructing team. With few jobs and fewer tools half the team had to find a way to make the house really stand out. The team decided to add a walkway with steps leading up to the house because there was a gap between the dirt and the the cement foundation of the house. While this team made the front look incredible the other team worked with our head foreman, Pastor Carlos, and the father and son who we are building the house for. This team worked to transport the build walls and then put them up. The process included building a support beam to hold up each of the walls, hammering nails though the boards and into the cement filled cinder blocks, and using screws to connect two frames together. Our two teams worked tirelessly in the sun for hours until the walkway was complete and each one of the walls were up. Since we still had time in the day, we began to construct window frames for our screen windows. At the end of the work day every single member left our site with a sense of accomplishment and joy because we could finally see the house forming. For me, seeing the framed house deeply impacted me because last year both sites did not get anywhere close to accomplishing this much of either house. It is like I finally get to finish what was left unfinished last year.

Due to the hard work that had been done this day and on Wednesday, boys night was canceled. Instead we went into town, Tamarindo, to do some souvenir shopping after relaxing on the beach and watching the sunset for the first time on this trip. After some fun shopping we went to dinner at Pangus for another delicious dinner. Back at the hotel, Laura and Nicole lead the debrief. There was worship by Katherine and more Pura Vidas. That was our Thursday!
Signing off,
