Building Relationships
Howdy partners! ðŸ¤
We’ve been feeling country-ish these days. We’ve listened to nothing but country songs about boots for the past 5 days. It’s growing on us! Today we started with breakfast with the boys, then we went and listened to the Lynching Sites Project’s presentation. We learned that lynching was not just someone being hanged, but it was anyone that was killed without due (or any) process. We also learned this country’s history in it. We then hiked up to an actual site and saw a memorial for a man that had been lynched a long time ago. It was a very moving experience and we talked about how we the church can be agents of reconciliation.
After that we went home and made some lunch and hung out for a little while. Some people enjoyed the sun, others played games. Then, we went to boys and girls club again and had a blast with the kids there. We can see the relationships forming between us and the kids and it’s great! After a longtime of playing and homework we went to their bible study there, which was a nice time to relax and wind down after such a fun and packed day. Finally we went to dinner at Huey’s and got some ice cream at the 901 Scoop.
Hope you guys are doing good back at home!! Miss you guys!
Love, Emma + Megan, and Kirsten 💗
