One Man's Trash
Today’s blog will begin with sharing about our experience last evening. We had a blast running our carnival in the gymnasium- the HH house kids absolutely loved it. One darling little girl said “I wish we could do this EVERY DAY! This is an amazing miracle!!!” So cute! While we were playing games, Mr Nathan and Miss Tara surprised us with an invitation to come to their house for treats and talk. As we sat around their kitchen table, we heard first hand stories from Mr Nathan about ministry at HH, how kids end up here, and how we can best reach out to them. It was an unexpected blessing from an incredible couple.
Today began with a devotion by Piper. She talked about how one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and the power of giving whatever you have with a pure heart. It was perfect for our upcoming work at the donation barn. Next we took a prayer walk around the combined church/school here at HH. In single file we silently prayed for the teaching, learning, worship, and fellowship that takes place there. Then we prayed over the crafts and activities that were to come later that day. After our prayer time we headed to the donation barn. Ernie and Jeanine, who head up donations, emotionally shared that we were a gift from God. The first sale of the season is scheduled for April 6. They recently had a family crisis and had no idea how they were going to be ready for the sale. We were their answer, and we got to work cleaning, organizing, sweeping and moving furniture.
The money earned from the sales will allow the seniors to take a trip to celebrate their graduation. After lunch we set up 15 different craft stations and enjoyed being creative and listening to music. What a great time to build relationships......Lot’s of laughter and conversations. Our group songs and dances wrapped up the afternoon. Evening activities included drama games, kazoo choir, and b-ball at the gym. Team time, Devotions and sharing our daily high points will close out this busy day. As hard as we are working, this is a life giving experience. It is becoming a “Home to come to” for all of us.
Sending Blessings from the Idaho team.
