Learning and Loving!
Greetings y’all! Hello from Memphis. Today we went to a church and helped organize donations for a food pantry. We learned that they cross off barcodes and keep people independent. It’s a perfect balance of giving what they need and helping them succeed in the future.
Then, we went to a coffee shop called City and State and talked about God’s attributes. We learned God is omnipotent, Free, Holy and righteous and eternal. After our devotional, we went to lunch at Caritas Village. We met Jim and Randy who ate with us. We loved Randy because he shared interesting stories and had lots of opinions which he freely and enthusiastically shared. Randy and Jim taught us about their neighborhood and how God called them there. We heard about some injustices in the neighborhood and the role we can play in reconciliation. Jim shared examples of how he has seen injustice in his neighborhood and we learned that people can be easily corrupted. This relates to our lives in Denver because there are similar neighborhoods and situations, and we can be the light in the face of evil.
After our Binghampton tour, we went to the Boys and Girls Club. We played basketball with kids. Some of us are way better than others at basketball, and some of us are not so much. :) Then we hung out with kids while they ate dinner and then helped them with their homework. They were so fun to hang out with and we are excited to keep it going.
After the Boys and Girls Club, we went downtown to the Grizzlies game. We all got great loot - thanks mom and dad! We loved the game because we saw a different environment, got cool merch, and experienced a new team in a new state.
