We’re thrilled you’ll be joining us on our local, national, and international experiences with Valor Discovery! Our hope is that we may be used by Christ to serve, love and transform, and that by our efforts we might advance His kingdom across the globe. Thank you for stopping by, thank you for your support, and thank you for your prayers. See you around the world!
Matthew 5:16
Breakfast at the hotel: Scrambled eggs, hard rolls, cheese, (some kind of meat product:), fruit, juice, coffee. This has been our standard fare here. I think they finally got the amount of eggs that we would go through right! Their take on coffee....? Well, let’s just say they are continuing to improve it!
Travel to CdL for the 1st ever CdL church service!
Lots of loud worship to videos while church was set up.
Basket raffles for the locals who came (maybe about 60 adults and at least that many kids!)
Preaching from the Word by Pastor Augusto
Worship!
More raffles. Valor kids got to pick the winning numbers out of the box.
Testimonies by two of the families who Valor has helped specifically, and by one “fired-up” woman who loves Jesus!
Lunch! Provided by Valor and served by Valor kids. Chicken, mixed vegetables and rice... Delicioso!
Then it was time for our goodbyes...This hit most of our kids hard! There must have been 500 last minute photos taken as we tried to capture moments and faces that we may never see again this side of heaven... But who knows? The same God who made this trip possible, could reunite some of us again someday.
We travelled back to our hotel where we loaded our bags onto a tour bus and headed to downtown Lima, about an hour away. When we were finally settled into our rooms, we had about an hour to freshen up, then we came down to the lobby/eating area for another sweet time of worship and debrief. Debrief is focused on reflecting on our experiences throughout our trip in three areas: Activities/Culture/Events (just the facts); Feelings/Emotions; and Thoughts.
One of the most important disciplines throughout our lives is to reflect on what God is doing, how that impacts our affective self, and how it changes how we think about the world. Getting our kids to take the time to do this can set the foundation for fruitful living for the rest of their lives!
We took a break, then it was time to walk to dinner - this strange place called, TGIFridays! Our kids are already starting to get re-acclimated to life back in the US, with good American food, good conversation, and laughter... Happy birthday, Julia!
On our walk back to the Hotel we stopped for... Wait for it... Yes, Ice cream! Again, great conversation and even a bit of relaxing as more familiar input comes back into our lives. We arrived at the hotel, for a bit of free-time in the confines of the hotel, and some strategic packing... There are gifts and memorabilia to purchase tomorrow at the Inca Market!
