Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
Captain's Log June 6: El Flamo Blanco here to report for day 1 in Nica. The kids woke up spry and energized for the day ahead whilst the adults downed coffee and prayed to be 24 again. The morning devo from Mr. Welch set the spiritual tone for the week calling the team to consider how God has given us all a promise, purpose, and a prosperous future. We then made the 90-minute drive to Ruby Ranch to get to work to prepare for the Nicaraguan kids camp tomorrow.
The Ranch is lush and beautiful this year (see picture below). However, the heat persists, so working today was once again spiritual training as much as it was physical. The team built and painted portable walls, dug ground and moved earth to continue the build of the futbol court, and finished supply prep for the beginning of camp tomorrow. All in all, it was a highly productive morning that involved power tools and no serious injuries.
In the afternoon the team did a devotional and then hiked to the top of Unruh Point (established 2016) for a worship service at the cross. Mr. Welch once again preached fire, The Debster led a wonderful worship and prayer time, and the team feels fully prepared for this week. There is a genuine feeling of unity throughout the team which we attribute to the willingness of the kids to come together and get out of their comfort zone. We are all excited and ready for what the Lord has in store for this week.
All in all, a great day of work and the team is ready to go, zero injuries, and spirits are high. See ya tomorrow!
