Day Three in Rwanda
From the eyes of Lily Mason
On our third day, we woke up early and started off the day with a devotion about stolen identity and how almost everyone tends to err on the side of either insecurity or arrogance. After our devotion and delicious breakfast, we hurried off to our classrooms to teach our VBS. The kids LOVED the activities we had planned for them. It was so cool seeing the projects we worked so hard on before we arrived, pay off. We had a scavenger hunt for the older kids. Watching them sprint to grab the colorful eggs with such joy on their faces was a highlight of the day. After porridge, we had the opportunity to play with the babies and helped them solve puzzles. They have such powerful imaginations and it's awesome to see how much kids enjoy being at school. Finally, it was time for the babies to be dismissed and we all had to say goodbye for the day.
Right after lunch, we headed to the Genocide Museum and the mood throughout our team changed. We came together after the exhibit to reflect on what horrible things had happened not too long ago, but we were also so astonished to see how united the country is now. It's incredible to see with our own eyes, how kind and how genuine everyone is to one another and it's empowering to know God is working in such fascinating ways everyday, making the country what it is now. Overall it was another beautiful day and we can't wait to see what's in store for tomorrow!
