Fiesta Friday
Hola amigos,
We're all doing really well here in Costa Rica. This morning started off with our usual quiet time in John 3. After breakfast, each team broke off to their own construction sites for the last day of construction. Team 1 spent the day putting up walls at their site. Both the the new owner, his son and the foreman were there to assist them today. We started off building the frames for the walls. Darian and Brendan teamed up on the power saws to cut the boards to the right length. Once frames were put up we took a quick lunch break before starting putting up sheetrock on the outside of the house. The Noonanator (Dr. Noonan) led this project and using screws we put up the sheetrock on the outside of the house. We finished two walls before we had to leave the construction site. We finished with a prayer over the new owners and the foreman for a safe finish to the house.

Team 2 finished the frame of our house with the foreman, Papillo, and he was very impressed by our team's ability to learn quickly and be put to work without complaint. We ended the day with two walls complete with sheetrock, and even though it was hard to walk away from the site without a roof or all four walls done, it was obvious that we did the hard work and from there Papillo could finish. Right before lunch, Schultz led our group in a devotion on the women by the well, from John 4, and Liz got us thinking about how we respond to hard truths and redemption. After we left at 2:30 we returned an hour and a half later to show the family moving in the work we have done, it was very humbling to see the look on the mothers face when she saw the house. Coach Schultz told her that the house was in her future since before she was born, because God said it was so, we did not build the house but more carried out God's plan for an already built house.

Afterwards we went to a fiesta at Casa Vida, the church we've been working with. We ate, talked with the locals, played some games and celebrated the end of a week of construction. Kenzie and Caroline both stood up to speak to the church in spanish connecting to the community. We did debrief when we got back and talked about a devotional we had today on each site. We personally ended the night in the pool for some team bonding.
See ya guys soon!
